Living the Sanctified and Obedient Life

Originally published:

Part of our Judeo-Christian heritage calls for obedience — at all levels, not just when someone is looking.

And THAT calls for leading a sanctified life.

We hear that often… Shake our heads…. Agree…  But our eyes and mind hit a fog…

Why is obedience so important to sanctification and vice versa?

We know an obedient life when we see one but do we know what a sanctified life looks like?

What does a sanctified and obedient life entail?

If we are listening to our convictions, we know when we are being obedient or not, so how do we know we ARE living a sanctified life or not?

Is being obedient good enough for a sanctified life or does all this entail more than that?

Well, the answers are already in the 1189 Chapters, 31,173 verses as well as 807,361 words in the Bible, written by about 40 authors…

We just have to sort them out…

The amazing part is God’s message is consistent throughout the Bible, irregardless of who wrote it, when it was written, no matter what part of the Bible you read…

This is going to take more than one post but to keep everything together, I am going to republish this post when each part has been completed.

We will start with the verses I believe support all this, and in the coming weeks I will add my thought and research to each of the verses, about one per week.

But don’t wait on me — use the comments below to chip in, after all that is blogs we have a comments section yes?

The verses (King James version) in particular that give the key that will shed light upon sanctification as well as tell us how to have sanctification come into our life are as follows…

”For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.” (2 Thessalonians 2:13)

Or more clearly,

But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brothers beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth

From this verse, salvation has two elements: sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth.

It also means a process which we elect, not one in which is born in us — and both are an internal process not external.

External may influence us but the process is internal — such as that voice we hear when we have a conviction about something… Think about it: Is that you speaking to you? Or the Holy Spirit nudging you to do the right thing? I can’t answer that for you — only you can…

God will never manipulate our will as He will never manipulate us to follow His will.

He never yells when guiding us — He entices, whispers, leads, opens doors… but never yells.

Yelling is a form of intimidation — He already knows how intimidating He can be once we realize who He really is…

Besides, yelling goes against His will — anyone yelling either demanding respect or venting their anger, are they not?

There’ll be plenty of yelling come judgement day — but not until then…

Throughout the Bible He commands respect through our humility, respect and honor.

He is a zealous God — but He is a loving God as well…

Sanctification is comes through the Holy Spirit and only if we choose to obey and listen…

Every time we listen, every time we are obedient, we start a Butterfly Effect…

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; ,that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” (Ephesians 5:25-27)

“Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” (1 Peter 1:22-23)

Old Glory - An Essay by Evangelo Morris

Reflections from Evangelo Morris

While our government officials and our military swear to uphold and protect our Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic, all of us pledge our allegiance to our flag and to our Republic.

This stance means our soldiers protect our Constitution, the framework of our fundamental laws, our freedoms, our civil liberties, our governance, and everything within.

That results in our flag representing all of us - even for those that do things of which we do not like or agree.

That hardly means those that have a love of country as well as love for our flag are not hurt at any desecration, ill-intent, or abuse - that also hardly means that anyone can do as they so please without ethical, moral and/or legal ramifications.

As a result, our flag has become and earned its place as the most recognized symbol of who we really are - a mighty and strong nation as we operate in compassion, in accordance of our Constitution.

Reflections from Decisive Liberty

The following stance is stated in the final paragraph of the oration given for the unveiling of our Statue of Liberty on the 28th of October, 1886....

... there is room in America and brotherhood for all who will support our institutions and aid in our development; but those who come to disturb our peace and dethrone our laws are aliens and enemies forever.

We at Decisive Liberty are committed to this stance and welcome all - if you have not already - to join us in learning to live by this stance.

There are only two nations that have placed God within their Constitution and way of life - one was created by God for the people he loves, and the other was created by people who love God.
